INSTALLATION OF PVC GLUE UP CEILING TILES DIRECTLY OVER THE CEILING

  1. Prepare the surface: Remove loose plaster, paint, wallpaper etc. Snap a chalk line in the middle of the ceiling (preferably through light fixture electrical box if you have one)

2. Apply the adhesive (we recommend Styro Pro or similar) to the back of the tile. It is important to apply the adhesive along the edges leaving space for glue to spread (approximately ¼” space from the very edge of the tile)

3. Install the first tile as on the picture (so the corner of the tile will cover one quarter of the light box). Cut off the part of the tile that overlaps the light box.

4. Install the first row along the chalk line. Overlap the tiles (do not butt join).

  1. Work your way to the sides. Install first the whole tiles, do the cutting at the end. The tiles could be cut with utility knife or with scissors.

INSTALLATION OF PVC GLUE UP CEILING TILES OVER EXISTING DROP TILES

1. Install the base ceiling tiles made out of Plywood, MDF, Block board or regular ceiling tiles etc.

It is recommended to paint the grid before installing faux tin ceiling tiles, you can use spray cans, spray gun or foam roller. (Removing existing tiles while painting the grid is unnecessary) Select the paint to compliment the tiles finish – (i.e., when installing Antique Copper tiles you may want to paint the grids in plain Copper or Antique Copper color etc.) Using existing old drop tiles as support simply resurface them with our new glue up faux tin ceiling tiles (glue them one by one to the base ceiling tiles and place them on to the grids) If necessary trim the edges of the PVC tiles to make them fit the grid size.

2. If your existing drop tiles are 24” X 48” you have two options

Glue two Faux Tin tiles over every one of the 24” X 48 tiles, side by side, overlapping the edges of the tiles in the middle. Convert the 24″ x 48″ grid system in to a 24″ x 24″ grid system by dividing the 24 x 48 openings in half using 24” cross tees. Cut the old drop tiles in half to make two 24” X 24” tiles, and glue on the 24″x24″ plastic glue up tiles to those halves one by one. Finally install the resurfaced ceiling tiles on to the grids.

Our clients oten ask us about what would happen if they decided to remove the ceiling tiles at some point. As easy they are to install, ceiling tiles are also very simple to remove. We’ve created a short video to show you what happens when ceiling tiles are removed from the wall surface.
