Covering a Popcorn Ceiling in Waterloo, ON With RM24 Styrofoam Ceiling Tiles

This Waterloo, Ontario home had a popcorn ceiling over the dining area, right where the room opens into the kitchen. Instead of scraping it off, our RM24 polystyrene ceiling tiles were glued straight over the texture. RM24 has a classic raised square pattern, and once the white tiles went up, the stucco was gone from view and the black and brass chandelier had a clean, finished ceiling around it.

A laser line marked the layout, so every row stayed square to the room, and the tiles were pressed into place one at a time against the textured surface. Learn More About the RM24 Polystyrene Ceiling Tile

RM24 is a lightweight Styrofoam ceiling tile made to glue directly over popcorn and stucco ceilings, so there’s no scraping and no mess. Each tile is about 19 5/8″ square, and a pack of 8 covers 21.5 sq. ft. You only need a utility knife, a caulking gun and a measuring tape to put it up. It’s moisture resistant and paintable with water-based paint, so you can keep it white or match it to your room.
